BLM Pratt honors the passing of Greg Tate, an important figure to Black artistic culture in NYC. Tate was a prolific writer, critic, musician and producer.
It is with great sadness that we mourn Tate, influential author, journalist and musician who uplifted the voices of Black musicians, artists and culture. Nicknamed, the “Godfather of Hip-Hop Journalism”, as a cultural critic, Tate captured the dynamic landscape of Black music since the 1980’s leaving a profound impact on the writing and music industry.
